How much life can change in a year. Last September for me was absolutely horrible. I spent the entire month having some scary health checks (which turned out to be OK but it made them no less traumatic at the time). This September was spent attending events, catching up with friends and, according to Instagram, eating ALL the pastry. The weather has been just magical too. It makes such a difference to my mood when the sun is shining and I can hear birds.
One of the highlights of my month was attending The Good Food Guide Awards at the Plaza Ballroom in Melbourne. It was so lovely to be at the industry ‘night of nights’ and to drink a never-ending supply of Pol Roger. I wish I had some more photos to show you but it was a black tie event and finding an evening bag big enough to house an SLR is a bit of a challenge. Sadly, the iPhone ones just don’t do it justice.
Things were a little quiet on the Winenot front last month. Louise was overseas and I was busy eating all the pastry, but we still had some great linkers.
I loved Please Bring My Wine’s vintage update- Party like it’s 2015. It seems like 2015 is turning out to be a good year everywhere – the whites I have seen recently released in Australia from this vintage are fabulous, especially the rieslings from South Australia (could this be the year riesling becomes fashionable?!?).
Compass & Fork was a new linker this month with their great post on Cappadocia: Excellent Food and Turkish Wine. We see virtually no Turkish wine in Australia so it was fantastic to learn about some of the indigenous grape varieties.
Check out Louise’s favourite posts from last week too.
Before I head off, I’m excited to say that in less than two weeks Louise and I will be living it up in Canberra and eating ALL the food (including pastry) at Eat Drink Blog – the Aussie food bloggers conference. Are you coming? Please let me know, I would love to catch up.
