Winenot Wednesday #11 – August

Welcome to Winenot Wednesday for August!

Golly July was a busy month, I am still settling into my new job but am starting to round the bend and life is becoming easier. Plus I sailed through my probation review last week which is a huge load off my mind.

I’m gearing up for a massive August. Hugely busy but also promising to be hugely fun. This week I have my first ever trip to South Australia and to the Clare Valley. I am SO excited. Then next week your #Winenot hosts are meeting in real life (and becoming #roomies ) at our first ProBlogger. So SO excited, Big Kev ain’t got nothin’ on me (bit of an Aussie joke there, sorry overseas peeps). We are rather hoping to find some more wine bloggers at the conference so we are keeping the linkup open an extra week, until 19th of August. You can follow our exploits by checking out #WinenotPB

What have you been up to in July? The once-monthly nature of our link-up now means that you can link up all your favourite posts from the month.

Our most popular post from last month was Wine is a verb’s very funny 11 Reasons why wine drunk is better than any other kind of drunk. I particularly love #11.#winenot, winenot wednesday, wine is a verb,

The July link up turned up a couple of blogs that were new for me and I simply could not go past Chestnuts and Truffles. Not only is the name just a little bit magical, but Luca’s ability to tell the story behind the wine is immersive. I urge you to check out his post about Stefano Amerighi: Tuscan Vigneron, it is also a fantastic discussion of biodynamic winemaking.

chestnuts and truffles, winenot,

Wine Lady’s post on Insects and Wine is pretty challenging (has anyone here ever eaten an insect?) but has some really interesting ideas and tasting notes. Recently the film, Foodies,  introduced me to the Cordyceps fungus which grows inside the body of a caterpillar and is an incredibly expensive delicacy. This whole idea of bizarre foods is blowing my mind!

Make sure you also check out Louise’s favourites

So now it’s your turn, what have you been up to in the world of wine? And, are you coming to ProBlogger? If so, do make sure you come and say hi and maybe catch up with us over a glass of vino.

thehungrymum – I’m also vegetarian/vegan, I’ve never tried insects and I am not going to, but I found the idea of pairing bugs and wine very interesting ;)) regards!!

Enjoy your trip to SA Nicole! I’m an SA girl from way back so wine runs through my veins. Wine drunk is good but so is gin drunk :)

Secretly I think all the drunks are quite pleasant as long as they are only mild :) The Clare Valley was gorgeous, watch this space.
