It’s a good thing that you can’t see me at the moment, my skin is green with envy as my Winenot Wednesday co-host flits her way around Italy. As I write this, she is sending me pictures from Umbria where she is drinking all the Sagrantino.
Speaking of Sagrantino, just a few weeks ago I was sipping the most aromatic Sagrantino rosé that Louise and her fiancé made. Have you tried Sagrantino? I hadn’t, but I look forward to trying more. Apparently they are usually deep, brooding wines with a significant tannin structure. Louise’s rosé was all cherry blossoms and spice with sweet fruits of the forest – so delicious.
I mentioned last month that Louise and I were about to head to Problogger. Here we are just after we met in real life for the first time.
After two days together we were finishing each others sentences. Problogger was all kinds of amazing. So may delightful people to meet and so inspiring, if only I could have stayed in that bubble.
It’s time to link up our favourite wine posts of the month. I’ve been a bit slack on the writing but always enjoy the reading.
The most popular post last month was Willunga Wino’s contribution to The Drunken Cyclist‘s Monthly Wine Writing Challenge with the theme Crisis. I have not heard of this challenge before but I think it is marvellous – this month’s theme is Choice and you can find out all the details if you want to participate over here.
My favourite posts this month were:
Travelling Corkscrew’s 18 Father’s Day Gift Ideas for your Wine-Loving Dad. Timely and useful. Except my dad is not wine-loving at all – bizarre lad. Never mind, some good gift ideas there for me 😉
The Sommelier Chef has written a beautiful discussion on Merlot and why it is so misunderstood. I think our equivalent in Australia is New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc. There are some wonderful ones out there but they can be a little hard to find in amongst all the mass-production.
Make sure you also check out Louise’s favourites.
Join in the party, and please visit at least two of the other linked posts.

September 3, 2015 at 5:01 pm (11 months ago)I’ve added a post about Turkish wine. Suprisingly good and some not so common grapes. Their wine industry is one of the oldest in the world and their exports are growing rapidly. Definitely one to watch!
