I spent most of this week cuddling my new nephew. In seven short days I spoiled him as rotten as possible (for someone too young to be fed sugar or bang noisy toys). As corruptive as I can get at this early stage is to let him sleep on my lap for as long as he wants and not put him down. #CoolAunty
I also spent quite a bit of time hanging out with my mum and drinking cheap wine. Stay with me…this is leading to something. I tend to shop in the $15+ range and mostly buy from smaller wineries. My mum is the opposite, she likes low prices and often buys wine on shopper dockets. When I put my (not so) inner winenerd aside, I have to admit that Australia makes some seriously good wines for under $10 (on special). I’m particularly thinking of Semillon Sauvignon Blanc blends from Margaret River. What are your tips?
We are up to week 8 of Winenot Wednesday and we had some great links this week. I am being a little selfish though and I would just love for there to be more of them. So please, spread the word. Let’s bring together more wine writers. And don’t forget, we are including a cheeky craft beer or two as well as wine recipes.
The most popular post this week was from Thomas Girgensohn. Thomas has just returned from an amazing tour of France’s wine regions and been to some of the most famous wineries in the world. What a trip!
My favourite posts of the week were from:
The Sommelier Chef with her discussion of White Wines. Are they trendy or taboo? White wines really do seem to come in an out of fashion so much more quickly than red. I love her suggestion of what the next fashionable wine might be… have you ever heard of albarino?
Please bring me my wine linked up our first video #Winenot post of his trip to Catalunya. How I envy those that live in the Northern hemisphere and can so easily pop over to all the great wine producing countries. Sigh!
Head over and check out Louise’s favourites
What have you discovered in the world of wine this week?

Thank God Pinot Grigio is trendy at the moment, I’ve always liked it! 😉 Yes, the old Chardonnay gets a had time…I’d never heard of ABC lol.
Kiwi Sauv Blancs are typically pretty decent around the $10 mark and I have to admit I have been getting some ripper bargains from Naked Wines of late 🙂
Thanks for the feature and thanks for hosting a great informative linky.
Oh, squishy nephews are the best. I agree, I don’t think I’ve had anything bad from Margaret River. Whereas, hubby is a Heathcote man, but he buys everything on Vinomofo or Greys where he buys most of our wine under $10 x
