Winenot Wednesday 4

The tragedy of my new job, a step-up in the wine industry for me, is a serious lack of wine. Oh I have plenty of access to it, but have not had much time to drink (or even taste) much. I’m hoping that will change soon.

In the meantime, I have been enjoying reading the tasting notes that have been linked up with #Winenot. Writing a good tasting note is a bit of an artform. I think there is something in telling the story of the wine and your experience of it and I love that you all seem to feel the same way.

wine snob

The most popular post last week (and also one of my favourites) was The Sommelier Chef‘s post asking Are you a Wine Snob? This had me thinking… I most definitely am a winegeek and a bit of a winenerd – the difference being that the geek version has a little less knowing and a little more enthusiasm. I also like quality wine but I think that is achievable at most price points. I think that makes me not a snob. I hope it does…

Tasting Page wrote about her (epic) tour of the Willamette Valley Wineries. It is one of those places I have only really read about in textbooks. Her pictures are lovely and her post gave me a much better sense of the wine from this region.

Continuing the winery theme, Wine is a Verb wrote about Yering Farm – a gorgeous boutique winery in the Yarra Valley. I have been to this winery a number of times and am a big fan of their wines. Now that I know they do enormous cheese platters too, I am definitely returning.

Make sure you also pop over and check out Louise’s favourites.
