Welcome to Wine Tweets of the Week #2. In case you missed it last week, this is where I write wine reviews in less than 140 characters. No room for detailed descriptions of terroir and winemaking techniques (although, I’ve got to admit I love that stuff too), just the stuff that’s really useful- what it smells like, what it tastes like and what to drink it with. So let’s get into it.

murrumbateman, riesling, gallagher, wine tweets2013 Gallagher Rielsing, Murrumbateman

Crisp, dry, delicious summer sipping. Lime juice, lemon zest and spring flowers on the nose, concentrated juicy citrus and zesty acid.

Purchased Strangeloves Wine Bar at on-premise pricing. Retails at $22

wine, rosé, bendigo, sutton grange, fairbank2013 ‘Fairbank’ Rosé, Sutton Grange Winery, Bendigo

So complex! Floral, mandarin zest and some smoky notes on nose with layers of peach, spice, hint of mint and savoury lingering palate.

Purchased King and Godfrey, $25

pinot gris, pinot noir, the gentle folk, adelaide hills2014 The Gentle Folk Pinot and Pinot, Adelaide Hills

Half Pinot Noir, half Pinot Gris. Crazy! Rose petals, strawberries, textural palate and perfect with a wedge of soft cheese.

Outside of my 140 characters- These guys are cool, they make minimal intervention, minimal sulfur, really interesting wines and break all the rules but the wines just work!

Purchased Green Park at on-premise pricing. Retails at $32

If you write your own wine tweets or love taking pictures of your wine and food experiences I want to see them. Tag them #cccheers and I will include a few of my favourites each week with a link back to your account.

Have a gorgeous weekend!

  1. These posts are fun! I’m intrigued by The Gentle Folk wines. I love their concept. I had a little too much wine at a birthday party last night, so I’m just going to stick to reading about wines today!
