Champagne and Chips is now four months old (gosh it feels like it has been part of my life much longer than that) and golly I am enjoying this little blog. I went to the Melbourne Problogger event on Tuesday and spent a lot of time introducing myself and my blog to the other lovely attendees. I very proudly said my blog name and enjoyed the little giggles that followed, but every time I said “..it’s a food and wine blog”, I felt a little stab of guilt. I have been dropping the ball a bit on the wine chatter.
Food is just so fun to talk about and makes for lovely photos, it’s so easy to get swept up in that vibe. Although, in real life, I am always about the wine. I love talking about it, answering questions, and helping people improve their wine knowledge. I love working in the industry and I even love studying it (I just hate the exams). So why do I shy away from writing about it?
I have this theory that most of us would like to learn a bit more about wine in a light-hearted and chilled out way, without too much jargon. Is this true?
I also have a theory that many of us have been snubbed or made to feel stupid by wine-wankers. It may have been someone at a cellar door, someone teaching a wine class or a sommelier or bar person that has made you feel this way. All of the above is true for me. Is it true for you too?
I promised you when I started this that it was going to be a food and wine blog… well, there’s a fair bit of food and a serious lack of wine. I also said that this was going to be a fun place with the opportunity to increase our wine knowledge and feel better about this magical beverage. I hope that I am kicking goals on the ‘fun’ bit but there has been much more talk about ice cream than there has about wine.
I have an exciting project fermenting away that I will announce in a couple of weeks but in the meantime I would love you to tell me what you are interested in. For those who delight in doing surveys (my hand is up), here is a very quick little 5 question one I would love you to do:
If you can’t really be bothered with surveys, I would still love to hear from you. Just comment below and tell me about the areas of wine knowledge you want or the kinds of articles you enjoy. If you prefer to be anonymous then flick me an email on champagneandchips @ outlook.com
Have a lovely weekend.

Loved the survey. I hadn’t even noticed the lack of wine because all the food has been so delicious! I’ll enjoy whatever you post! xx
You are a darling. Thanks for your input.
Just completed the survey. I hadn’t really noticed the lack of wine posts either, probably because food distracts me, but I would love love LOVE to learn more about wine. I don’t know much other than I like it 🙂
Thanks so much for helping out.
I am a survey lover that needs to learn more about wine! Woo done x
Yay, thank you my sweet.
Just did the survey, looking forward to more wine posts!
Thank you, you are a champ.
OKay I’m off to do the survey! BTW I can’t believe you’ve only been going 4 months. I could have sworn it was much longer as you’re such a pro 😀
Awww shucks, thank you. I did have a Lifestyle blog before this that harboured a lot of my mistakes. I just love working on this blog though so it’s easy.
Only four months! You’re a star. You could post about odd socks and I’d find it interesting. I’m going survey the situation now xxx
Thank you. I have to admit that this is my second blog, tried to make the majority of my mistakes with the first one 🙂
I’m a wine lover so I can’t wait to read your upcoming wine articles, yay!
Yay. Thank you x
Great idea Nicole! I just love surveys – and wine of course. I’ll be interested to read anything you post about wine 🙂
I want to know how to get the wine out of the tiny glass without my nose getting in the way :/
Oooh, easy fix, just use bigger glasses 🙂
